Ravidas Jayanti, 2015
3 February, 2015. Ravidas Jayanti is celebrated on the Magh Purnima day. Mahavir Mandir has got the most impressive idol of Sant Ravidas which is established on the north east corner of the temple . It has got equally impressive Chhatri (canopy). Processions are held on this occasion and various aspects of his life are highlighted in the evening function.
On 3rd February, 2015 the Chief Minister, Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi,visited Mahavir Mandir on the occasion of Sant Ravidas Jayanti and garlanded the statute of Sant Shiromani Ravidasji. Thereafter he visited Mahavir Mandir where the priest honoured him by offering him shawl and Naivedyam. Then he visited every sanctum sanctorium in the temple and came to the dais.
In his welcome address the Secretary of Mahavir Mandir Trust Acharya Kishore Kunal highlighted certain salient features of the functioning of the temple trust. He said how this temple trust heralded a new scheme of temple management in North India by combining philanthropy with religion in taking many steps for the improvement of the lot of the down trodden. Former Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Ram Sundar Das, highlighted how medieval religious leader Ramanand Swami initiated religious leaders like Kabir and Ravidas who were in the fore front of preaching true religion in the country.
The Chief Minister of Bihar Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi praised the efforts of Mahavir Mandir trust in the upliftment of the poor people who have been deprived of their rights for centuries. He advised the people to rise above caste and treat every human being equal. He recited a chaupai of Tulsidas “PARHIT SARIS DHARAM NAHI BHAI” i.e. there is no religion like philanthropy and there can be nothing as mean as torturing others “PAR PIDA SAM NAHI ADHIMAI”. He advised every one to perform his duties and refrain from despising others.
Shri Jia Lal Arya proposed vote of thanks. At the end Chief Minister flaged off the Sobhayatra (procession) of Sant Ravidas which is taken out every year for last 25 years.
